Hey Guys,
Here's another update on my current project, the light saber. I've just completed the high poly and will be moving on to texturing shortly. I'm really loving the challenges that are innate to this piece, I've learnt a lot in terms of design, construction and hard surface modeling.
I've also taken to constructing a scene in real life on my desk with various parts of junk I found around the house to get a feeling for the kind of scene ill be presenting the asset in. Once I have taken a suitable reference photo I'll then create a paint over then a 3D blockout composition.
(The ugly blue bloom is just for reference to where ill place the crystals)

Another Update on the lightsaber, I'm trying to add meaningful changes every few days.
Ive added more detail to the low poly and fleshed out the skeleton, added wires, adding a glass window on the exterior and cleaning up topology.

Ive been pretty hungry creatively and all I can think about is working on this piece, especially after working my day job all weekend.

Hey Guys.
Here is an update on my current project.
I was looking over my work today and realised some serious design flaws so I decided to return to my low poly and fix the issues. I also realised that I wasn't pushing my skills as an artist and the project wasn't much of a challenge. The piece just wasn't interesting so i've started to add a lot more form and features to it such as a metal casing which allows you to view and replace the crystals, heat sink fins, a microchip board, washers and various tertiary detail. I will continue to add detail then the next step will be blocking out how I will present this piece.

Hey Everyone, 

This is my latest project that I have been working on, Currently working on the High Poly and blocking out the Animation I am going to use to present it. I am thinking something quick on a loop, I am also thinking of rendering a cross section, however I am still thinking over the logistics and the viability of presenting it that way as I might have to make a separate asset.
